My Mum (Florence Robinson)was a member of Horwich RMI for many years in the 1950's and 60's. She was a contemporary of Olive Hart, Bill Dixon, Joan Wright etc. Recently, whilst clearing out a trunk full of old scores and libs belonging to the society of which I am now a member in Eastleigh, Hampshire, I came across a lib for 'Waltz Time' stamped with the name Horwich RMI Operatic Society! It had the name Ron Berry on the front. My mother played the lead in that show when Horwich performed it. I have no idea how the lib travelled all the way from Horwich to Hampshire, but I'd love to know!
I, incidentally, played the part of 'Nellie' in 'Annie Get Your Gun' in 1965, when I was 11. |
